IT Fest - IT Quake - 2011
IT Fest - IT Quake - 2011  was inaugurated by Arun Rao Aroor, Head of IT Department, Manipal Group, Manipal and Alumni of Milagres College. Aurn Rao Aroor said during his inaugural address that IT technologies developing very fast and coming up. Come up with new ideas, develop knowledge and keep discipline in our lifestyle and many more was the message to the students. The place which we get more ideas and knowledge in the College will help in our future life.

During the Valedictory function prizes were distributed to the various competitions winners. Champions trophy also presented to the champions.

We should respect the people with disabilities and call them differently
abled people, said Mr Nyranjan Bhat, officer incharge Udupi district
disabled welfare Department Govt of India. He was addressing the NSS
volunteers of Milagres College. it was presided by Prof. Hilda D
Silva. programme officer Dr Gerald Pinto and Smt Annamma and student
leaders Sindura Rao, Akshatha, Royson were present.  Student took an
oath to respect special people.
Workshop on new pattern of civil service was arranged in Milagres College by Career Guidance Cell on 6\3\11. Training was given in Civil Service aptitude test 1 and 2.

Prof Hilda Rodrigues,Dr Gerald Pinto and Divya Pinto were resource persons.

Science Fest 2011

Science students should inculcate scientific temper and  question everything. They should also think of preserving bio diversity and Nature. If one tree is cut three should be planted.  Rain water should be harvested t so that there is no shortage of water in summer.  Concretisation increases global warming hence useless concrete  structures like arcs on highways should be allowed  as they contribute to global warming “ said Dr N A Madyastha the noted environmental Scientist and former Principal of PPC Udupi on 11\2\11 in Milagres  College during inauguration of Inter Collegiate Science festival . Principal Rev Fr Fred Mascarenhas  who presided over the function called upon students to love science and to be creative.

  Initially Avin Kumar the president of Science Association welcomed the gathering. The convener prof. Joseph Fernandes introduced the chief guest. Dean of Faculty Science Dr Gerald Pinto and secretary Akila were present.

The competitions were held in Science lecture competition, Science model, science fiction writing, chart and College and science skit.

MGM College udupi bagged MSNG memorial  Science lecture competition shield and over all Championship. Dr Gerald Pinto. Smt MetildaLewis and Miss Loyleeta were judges of competitions. Miss Akila proposed vote of thanks and Rolwin compared

Blood Donation camp

Blood donation camp was organized by Red Ribbon Club, N SS, Youth Red Cross, Rotary, Lions and JCI Kallianpur on 27\1\11 in Milagres College in association with Udupi District Hospital Blood Bank. Dr Ashok inaugurated the camp and Principal presided. 103 students and staff donated the blood. Dr Gerald Pinto the NSS Officer and Mr Vittal Nayak Youth Red Cross Director directed the camp.

Workshop on preparation of Paper bags Anti Plastic rally

 As a part of Republic day celebration Red Ribbon Club and N SS Milagres College organized  Workshop of preparation of paper bags protection and anti plastic rally on 26\1\11 1fter the republic day celebrations. Prof Melwin Rego spoke about ill effect of Plastic. Mrs Marceline Shera teacher of Milagres High School  conducted a training programme to prepare bags from news paper.  About 220 students prepared paper bags  Then student took rally from Kallianpur to Santhekatte via Nejar where entire place is polluted by plastic.  The drainage of roads where water flows in rainy season is filled with plastics and local bodies and elected representatives are almost blind to this. The students also signed a memorandum to ban plastic.

Dr. Ajith J D’ Souza AIDS awareness Rally and Street Play

Ajith J D’ Souza, Dean of PG Dept of Social Work (MSW), Milagres College is awarded Ph D for the thesis titled ‘Quality of Life of Elderly in Rural Dakshina Kannada’ from Mangalore University.  

AIDs awareness Rally and Street play was organised by NSS and Red Ribbon club of Milagres College Kallianpur in the 5 cents and 3 cents colonies of  pamboor village of  Padubelle. NSS and Red ribbon club members went to house to house and explained about the AIDS and they also informed the people that AIDS does not spread by living together, using common toilets or dining in the same house. later a rally was taken in the villages and a street play was inacted in the village. NSS programme officers  Dr Gerald Pinto and Smt Annamma directed the programme.
Annual NSS Special Camp at Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre Pamboor
" Today our families  have only one or two children. So the parents show over love and so the children cannot face life. But NSS camp gives training to live together and to acquire life skills which help them to face future life" said Kum Remedia D Souza the president of Manasa rehabilitation and Training Centre pamboor and former Jilla panchyat president. She was inaugurating the annual NSS special camp of Mangalore University Milagres College Unit on 26\12\10 and manasa Rehabilitation and Training centre Pamboor Padubelle. Principal of Milagres  Rev Fr Fred Mascarenhas presided. President of Lions Club Kallianpur Mr Valerian Fernandes, Rotary President Mr Sadananda Naik, Principal of Manasa Sr Vinney Goncalves,NSS programme officers Dr Gerald Pinto and Smt Aannamma and Unit Leaders Sindura Rao,Akshatha Shetty, Prashanth K and Royson D Souza were present. 107 students are taking part in the camp which is to be held 26\12\10 to 31\12\10. 
Prestigious ‘Daiji Puroskar – 2011’ Goes to Dr. Gerald Pinto (Jerry Niddodi)

Jerry Niddodi, a prominent Konkani writer, has been chosen for ‘Daiji Literary Award’ for 2011. This announcement has been made by Daiji Dubai, renowned forum of Konkani writers in Dubai, in a press statement.

Jerry Niddodi richly deserves ‘Daiji Dubai Puroskar – 2011’ and Daiji-Dubai has picked him for this award, taking into account his all-round achievement towards the development of Konkani literature. He has written novels, short stories, poems and over 600 articles in Konkani. His novel ‘Tisri Takli’ had bagged the Konkani Sahitya Academy Award for 2007. In addition, he has won Danti-Smarak award in 1997, Divo Sahitya Prashasti in 2007 and Konkani Star award in 2007. The distinguished writer’s accomplishments also cover a broader spectrum, including research in physics, social work and journalism.

The highly rated ‘Daiji Dubai Literary Puroskar – 2011’ will be conferred on Jerry Niddodi during the annual day celebrations of Daiji Dubai scheduled to be held on April 29, 2011. The award carries a cash component of Rs 50,000, apart from a shawl, citation and certificate of honour. Daiji Dubai, a premier forum of Konkani writers based in Dubai, salutes Jerry Niddodi with pride and joy on his accomplishment.

International workshop on Nano Technology was held by St Aloysius college Mangalore from 14\12\10 to 16\12\10. It was inaugurated by Dr V S  Acharya the Minister for Higher Education Govt of Karnataka. The Rector of St Aloysius College Fr Joseph Rodrigues, PRINCIPAL Fr Swbert D'Silva, and convener Dr Narayan Bhat were present.

Dr Gerald Pinto the president of Association of Physics Teachers Mangalore University and HOD of Physics chaired the Morning session on 16\12\10. 
Workshop on Campus Placement World Aids was Observed in Milages College Kallianpur by Red Ribbon Club,NSS, PUC Student Welfare Council in association with Lions and Rotary Club Kallianpur
Workshop on Campus Placement training was held in Milagres College for the final year students on 8\12\10 in the silver Jubilee Hall. Dean of MSW Mr Ajith D'souza and Mrs Renits D Souza were resource persons. students were trained in How to Face interview?, Resume writing, group discussions and goal setting. Convener of career Guidance cell Dr Gerald Pinto presided.
 on 1\12\10 in the Silver Jubilee Hall . Dr Ashok , Udupi District AIDS control officer was the resource person. He said that Udupi district which was in red zone has managed to come down to yellow zone by controlling AIDS. He also administered the oath to the students and all participants that we will not discriminate AIDS patients but treat them as equals. PUC Principal Fr Vijay Lobo presided. BSc student Akshatha Shetty spoke on how we should treat aids patients.  She said that we shoudl hate AIDS but should love  AID patients

Konkani Literary Workshop
Konkani Literary Workshop was inaugurated in Milagres College Kallianpur 0n 28\11\10 at 10 AM by noted Konkani writer Catherine Rodrigues Katpadi. She said that she started to write because of a workshop she attended 25 years ago. V Rev Fr Marcel Saldanha the Vicar vara of Kallianpur Varado presided and Fr Vijay Lobo principal of Milagres PU Collge was the chief guest. 
       Mr Edwin J F D Souza the executive committee member of Central Sahitya Acaemy  explained about the characteristics of a good short story and participants were asked to to write a short story and it was analyzed. Dolphy  Cassia spoke about Drama writing and Dr Gerald Pinto explained how to write a good article to a magazine.

Initially Louis D  Almeida welcomed the guests and Joseph Kiran proposed vote of thanks. Alphonse D Costa Compared. The  workshop was organised by St Aloysius Konkani Institute and Konkani Sangatan Udupi Dist.
Workshop for High School Teachers
Workshop for High School Teachers on Electronics and computer Science was organised in Milagres College Kallianpur by Pilikula Regional Science centre and Milagres College. Dr B V Mahidas  D D P I Udupi Dist inaugurated the workshop. He said that the wlls between high school and College should go so that there is co operation between each other. Dr K V Rao director of Pilikula Regional centre asked the teachers to recharge themselves so that they can be good conductors of education. Principal Fr Fred Mascarenhas presided. Rain water harvesting by NSS Milagres Unit Celebration of Feast Chowti, Ramzan, Monti Fest
NSS programe officer Dr Gerald Pinto informed the students about the importance of rain water harvesting on 12\9\10   and it was demonstrated at different places around the college. NSS students of Milagres College dung four sink pits to rainwater collected by the roof of the college. The pit 5ft by 5ft which was filled by jelly, bolders and sand. Trenches were also made in the church garden to slow down the running water. It was sponsored by lions club kallianpur.
NSS unit of Milagres College Kallianpur  and Lions Club  Kallianpur celebrated the three feats of three religions: Ganesh Chaturthi of Hindus, Ramzan of Muslims and Monto fest of Christians on 12\9\10 in the silver Jubilee Hall in the afternoon. Janab B Kasim, the president of Udupi District Muslim Okkoota was the guest of honour. Dr Gerald Pinto presided.  Student leader Karthik spoke about Chowthi, Reena spoke about Montifeat and guest b Kasim spoke about  Ramzan. He asked the student to live in unity and learn each others religion and festivals. It was followed by Cultural programme by the NSS volunteers. Nss programme officer Mrs Annamma, student leaders Sindura Rao, Prashanth K, Royson D Souza and  C haitra Hegde were present.
Akshatha Shetty  welcomed the gathering and Sindura Rao proposed
vote of thanks.
NSS Weekend Camp
5.9.10  New ladies hostel surrounding was cleaned and two wheeler shed constructed. Followed by personality development programme.
State Level Workshop  On In the Backdrop of Global Warming Energy Options in the 20th century and Exhibition on  Peaceful Use of Nuclear Nuclear Energy
State Level Workshop and Exhibition on Nuclear Energy was organised by Physics Department of Milagres College and Association of Physics Teachers of Mangalore University was inaugurated by Dr K V Rao the secretary for Science and Technology D. K on 23rd Aug 2010 in the Tri centenary of Milagres College. He called upon the students and teachers to promote renewable source of energy and save mother earth from Global warming. principal Fr Fred Mascarenhas presided. Correspondent Fr  Marcel Saldanha said that Mother has the fever so the children has to suffer due to Global warming. Mr S Sharma and Mr S V Patil from nuclear power Corporation of India, Mr Ramesh Bhat and  Dr H M Somshekarappa Head USIC Mangalore University were present. Exhibition was inaugurated by Fr Marcel Saldanha
Exhibition on Peaceful Use of Nuclear Energy
The exhibition on Peaceful use of Nuclear energy was organised in Milagres College Kallianpur during 23 and 24 Aug by Physics Department of the College and Association of Physics Teachers Mangalore University in association with Nuclear Power Corporation of India Mumbai. Mr S P Dharne, Mr S Sharma and Mr S.V Patil from NPCIL MUmbai were resource persons. Rev Fr marcel Saldanha the correspondent of Milagres Institutions inaugurated the exhibition. The exhibition consists of fission of nucleus, production fo electricity from atom, nuclear reactor, nuclear power plants of India, India's present and future nuclear power programme etc.  It also depicts the contribution of  DR. H J Bhabha.
The exhibition was open to the college students, public and students of neighbouring schools
